Misha Williams Interview

Misha Williams Interview

This summer the music industry eagerly awaits the new debut album 'Take It Like It Is'from America's new rising star, Misha Williams. Misha has already been hotly-tipped by favourite pop magazines Shout, Flipside, TOTP and Cosmo Girl and now she embarks on the Girls Aloud tour this summer. We chat to Misha about the music industry, her music and the parties she'll have with Girls Aloud.

Q: You have been in the industry for 10 years. How did you get into it?

MW: I was walking through a shopping mall where a group of people were performing and I asked if I could join in. Before I knew it I had auditioned and started singing with them on the weekend. From there it grew and I started doing festivals, weddings and all kinds of stuff on my own.

Q: Who has been your biggest influence?

MW: I would have to say it is my bigger sister, Martha. She is four years older than me and I have always looked up to her. We actually worked together on the album.

Q: If you could have anyone's music career, whose would it be?

MW: I would say someone like Shania Twain because she is a great song writer and she does what she wants to do regardless of other people. Plus, she has her own life outside of the business which I think is really cool.

Q: Is writing really important to you?

MW: Extremely! It's a way to really express yourself as a musician and if I hadn't started writing I wouldn't know as much about the industry as I do now.

Q: Do you prefer writing or performing?

MW: I love performing what I write.

Q: What do you think of the talent shows like Pop Idol?

MW: I think it makes people more aware of the industry and how it works, although it's an unrealistic process as it happens so fast. It's good for people that don't have the support system to allow them to fulfil their dreams.

Q: 'Take it like it is' is your new album. When is it released and what's it like?

MW: My album is released on the 26th March and all the songs are really fun and upbeat. I like to write about things that have a positive message and can be inspirational for girls.

Q: You have been touring the country for last couple of weeks. Have you enjoyed it?

MW: Definitely! When I came back after Christmas I did a three week schools tour which was so much fun.

Q: What's the best and worst thing about touring?

MW: The best thing is getting to perform. The worst is constantly staying in hotels and not having a home.

p>Q: You are about to start touring with Girls Aloud. Have you met them yet?

MW: I haven't met them yet but I can't wait.

p>Q: What have you heard about them?

MW: I have heard that they put on a really good show and that they really love what they do. I can't wait to get to know them.

Q: They like to party, do you think you will be joining them?

MW: Maybe a little bit but I have to look after myself. If I don't take care of myself I won't be able to perform and that's why I'm here. I will definitely spend as much time as I can hanging out with them though.
