Arsene Wenger has pleaded with Arsenal fans not to chant gay-taunts about their former left-back during matches. The homophobic chants have been emanating from certain sections of the Gunners crowd recently, and relate to false tabloid allegations that the player was involved in a gay orgy. This week Ashley releases his long-anticipated, revelatory and controversial book, Ashley Cole: My Defence.

So did he really have a gay orgy then?

Well he received an apology and damages from the News of the World and the Sun for those allegations. Beyond that, I’m afraid I can’t comment.

So is that to say that he did??

Did I not just say I can’t comment?!

Alright, alright, relax! OK, so what’s all the fuss about a book then?

Like you don't already know! Everyone’s getting it in the neck in Mr. Cole’s autobiography: the Arsenal board, ex-teamates…even his 'special' new manager Jose Mourinho takes a surprising dose of flack.

So why did he leave Arsenal again?

Money, money, money!

Come on now. What was the real reason?

OK then. Officially it was because he fell out with Arsenal for ‘leaving him to dry’ following the famous tapping up incident when he met Chelsea’s top brass behind his then club’s back. Then there was the opportunity to link up with other England blues like Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and John Terry which was too good to resist. Oh and he was also upset at the fact that the fans and board didn’t show him enough love.

So he just wants to be loved eh? Well he’s got that fit Girls Aloud bird in his life so that’s alright then...

Show some respect will you? I take it you’re referring to Cheryl Tweedy. That’s not his ‘bird’, it’s his wife. They’ve been happily married for 2 months now I’ll have you know. Actually, it turns out she had a say in persuading Ash to move clubs.

So was his transfer worth all the grief and tedium it caused to both clubs and the general football supporting public?

Who knows? The most interesting factor of Cole’s move from North to West London was that Chelsea had to give up William Gallas as part of the deal – something that Mourinho was loathe to do. Time will tell who got the better deal.

You won't find Ashley: Down a North London pub sharing a pint with Gunners fans.

You will find Ashley: Appearing in silly adverts for gossip magazines alongside his wife.
