Olympic Golden Girl Sally Gunnell took the time to talk to us about the National Lottery's new incentive to get everyone enjoying sports and making the most of our bodies!

What’s the Dream Stats calculator all about?

The National Lottery has devised it and there are two ways of doing it. One being via the Dream Stats website where you enter your personal info and interests, and it will come back with an Olympic sport that best suits you whether it be a wrestler or swimmer! In addition to this you can also get involved by visiting one of the London 2012 Road Shows that are touring the country until August 29th, and try some of the tests. They’re nothing too energetic but there’s rowing tests and the wall etc. Both adults and children can have a go and it will guide people in the right direction into finding a sport that suits them. Plus there’ll be people giving out advice and information on what activities are available in their local area!

We’ve got a number of youngsters coming through now but we've still got 5 years until the London 2012 Olympics. Next year there’s Beijing and it’s a chance for us to get exposure... and we’ve got a lot of talent!

The state of British funding for athletics

It's great compared to what it used to be like. I had to write all my begging letters as an athlete. With the National Lottery it’s helping the athletes with the medical backup they need, providing them with the chance to be full-time athletes and get that training in. It's making a big difference but it doesn’t just happen over night.
